What You Think You Know
Imagine if you will, what it would be like to be born in a small village, in the middle of nowhere with no technology or communication with anyone outside that village. This place is your whole world and everything you know. You live off the fruit of the land, fish in the streams, and hunt in its forests, but you know nothing except this very finite location and you know it well. You think you have a pretty good grasp on the nature of the world.
But you have never heard of the sea. You have no concept of a body of water of that magnitude or knowledge of its existence. Now imagine someone enters your village by stagecoach, says you must come with them but doesn’t say where it is you are going. You ride through the night, then by morning you approach the seaside and for the first time you stand on the shore and lay eyes on the vast, seemingly endless body of water before you. You are called to board this large vessel called a ship and begin a journey to lands unknown.
I would imagine this experience would utterly blow your mind. You thought you had a firm grasp on the reality of the world but suddenly you realize anything is possible and that it turns out, you actually know nothing at all. I believe this is what it will be like to stand at the gates of heaven and see Jesus face to face. We think we understand everything, but in reality, our scope is incredibly limited and we will soon find out we really know nothing. How can I be so sure? Here’s the proof…
That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
— 1 Corinthians 2:9
Let the adventure begin!!!
DEEP BLUE SEA
Lyrics by Jakki Jelene
We intend to go
We intend to see
Places in our dreams
Where we long to be
It seems so out of touch
To those who have no vision
But nothing’s what it seems
There’s no certainty
Sailing high on white capped waves
Above the salty brine
We’re traveling upon the deep blue sea
Deep blue sea
Deep blue sea
We’ll close our eyes tonight
And leave behind reality
Like wings we’re taking flight
To another world
A land yet unexplored
That no one can imagine
But when we come ashore
We will surely see
Sailing high on white capped waves
Above the salty brine
We’re traveling upon the deep blue sea
Deep blue sea
Deep blue sea
