Valentine’s Day 2015
Well, another Valentine’s Day has come and gone. It was a particularly frigid day here in Michigan. Those are the kind of temps I didn’t miss, but still somehow my heart was full from the time I rolled out of bed. I was greeted with a kiss and a large Biggby cappuccino, a stunning flower bouquet, Ghirardelli candy and a bag of Peanut M&Ms…who could ask for anything more?
I gave Jess a new pair of (much needed) slippers and some of his favorite candy as well. I also spent the entire previous day slaving over these cookies for him. I made the red frosting cherry flavored, as I always do on Valentine’s Day, because when we first started dating in high school I made him the very first batch of cookies with cherry frosting and he loved them. The theme here is hugs and kisses. 🙂
Then we spent the afternoon making these chocolate dipped strawberries together. First time we ever made them and I think they turned out beautiful, if I do say so myself!
We had a lot of leftover chocolate and rather than waste it Jess came up with an idea to make gourmet popcorn. Truly an excellent way to utilize the extra…it turned out sooo yummy!
Well, after our fun activity at home we drove downtown to look at the beautiful ice sculptures and then had a wonderful dinner at Olive Garden. If it had been warm enough we would have went ice skating, but it appeared they closed the ice rink down early, so it will have to wait for another day.
Instead we spent the rest of the evening cuddled up and watched Sleepless In Seattle…the best Valentine movie! Altogether it was an incredibly lovely day and I felt so blessed to spend another Valentine’s Day with my sweet, wonderful husband. That is something worth celebrating!
