Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Well, this was a fun St. Patrick’s Day! I spent most of the day decorating these cookies while watching The Secret of Kells, Darby O’Gill & The Little People and Leprechaun’s Christmas Gold by Rankin & Bass. I also made sure to decorate the living room and dining room with a banner and shamrock cut outs. When Jess got home we took a drive to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner. It’s still odd to think of Monday as being like our Friday since Jess started his new job. Not even sure how long this will last, but we know for sure he will go back to Fridays and Saturdays off for the month of April anyway. What matters most is that training at the new job is going extremely well and he seems to be enjoying the new position.
Speaking of Jess, we also celebrated his birthday this past Saturday. I tried to incorporate his decorations with the St. Patrick’s Day theme, something I have largely avoided over the years, since that was what his Mom did when he was a kid. This year I just couldn’t resist, and he seemed to like it as well. We had the gang over for dinner, which was pizza (always easy). I also made him a New York style baked cheesecake, which turned out great despite the fact I was concerned I may have over-baked it. The highlight of the day is what I gave him a laptop for his birthday, because truth is, it is so long overdue! Every writer deserves a good machine to work on, and his was quite outdated with a a broken fan which caused it to overheat and shut down from time to time. Still, I don’t think he was expecting that and seemed quite excited by it. Made me so happy to do something super special for him this year! He is truly deserving.
