Four Men
Four men. I consider each of these heroes as much as any mere man can be. All passionate in the cause for justice, all upheld by the mighty hand of God in their fight for human rights. Silence and inaction do not inspire change, it does not bring about justice. May I pass from this earth being known for possessing an ounce of their passion and courage of my own convictions to speak out. May I too not grow weary in the fight for life or fail to see its significance. As long as the wicked are permitted to speak, so shall I. As long as the ignorant are permitted to speak, so shall I. As long as the weak are silenced, I shall not be. And by God’s grace and mercy, despite past failures and disappointments, we too shall be victorious as they were!
“Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:8-9)
