Songs I Heard This Week (10/16/23)
Some weeks just require a moment to immerse yourself in music. This past week I took a step back to some old favorites, mostly 80s and 90s. Feeling nostalgic, reflective, and pensive, music helps me find my center.
This song is about being open to change to me. Seeing life passing you by can be a motivator to finally take hold of your life for the better. This song inspired me at a time when I was preparing for a big move. It inspires me once again, but not for the same reason. Not to turn everything upside down, but to finally know what it is I want and fight for that.
Another song that makes me feel like a child again. I love Phil Collins, especially his work with Genesis. Talk about underrated! This man was so much more than a drummer and he didn’t even know it. A reminder that you may have untapped potential worth exploring. But here, you really sense his heartwrenching powerlessness.
Was driving around listening to this and it carried me away. This one brings me back to my childhood as one of my earliest memories of pop music. It still hits deep and is perhaps my favorite Elton John track.
Relationships get tested. It’s never fun to go through at the time, but it’s only by facing serious challenges that you will find out what they are truly made of. Love is not for the faint of heart. Sometimes it requires you to “suffer some misery”, but the reward is even greater.
Sometimes you see it coming. The storm is approaching and there is little you can do to stop it. So what do you choose?
